Hammer Head

In 1989 the Pradlo Distillery in western Czechoslovakia began a project to create a single malt whisky of unparalleled quality.

With great effort Pradlo distillery was able to acquire and install a traditional cast iron hammer mill of the same style and make as those found in most traditional Scottish distilleries at the time.

Using only Czech barley and the crisp clean water of the Bohemia region, this whisky is aged in unique oak casks made of 100% Czech oak wood, to produce a single malt whisky unique to the world.

Left to age in their unique casks for over 20 years, the whisky is now finally available and ready to enjoy. Limited in volume, we have named this 1989 Vintage Single Malt Whisky after the noisy mill’s nickname, Hammer Head.

In 2011, Hammer Head won the Masters award at The Whiskeys of the World Masters event.
